With all the teams going on to play in their final preseason competition on Thursday (8/29), some players will learn their fate for the first week of the regular season, following the final whistle.
Tonight, the Panthers will finish the preseason in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, featuring a marginal boy trying to secure a spot on that five-man roster. It may not be the best football you will ever see, but if you are watching tonight you will still find some entertainment value and the chance to root for the best players in your bottom-up list of favorites.
For fans, being filled with backups and rockets of learning to adjust to previous games in professional football may not be too much of a reason to be excited about this. However, consider that there are 32 teams with a total of 22 starts on offense and defense. This equates to 704 players who are positioned near the top in terms of guaranteed positions, but 20 (90 x 32) total candidates take part in the preseason game

Expect to impress the coaches enough, proving that they can execute what they have shown in practice and perform when calculated - all four live opportunities will end this week.
